Image Analysis#

This two-day module is taught by the Single Cell Facility as part of the D-BSSE Lab Course at ETH Zurich.

In this Image Analysis module, you will learn how to process and analyse microscopy images. You will use Fiji and Python to segment cells in microscopy images, measure their properties and assess how reliable the results are. No prior experience with image analysis or programming is required.

Overview#

  1. Computer Setup: We will work with your laptops, which we need to prepare before the course starts. The setup is guided on Day 0 (Friday, 18.9.2026) in the lecture room.

  2. Python basics: Before Monday, 21.9.2026, you should complete the Python primer and exercises. This will give you the basic skills to use Python for image analysis in the course. The primer and exercises run entirely in your browser.

  3. Schedule: An overview over the course module.
